Root Canals – Cranbrook Dentist – Victoria Avenue Dental

There is often a negative connotation with root canal treatments amongst patients, due to the severe pain associated with this type of procedure. So much so, that it has instilled fear and anxiety within patients, hindering them from doing the procedure at all. However contrary to popular belief, root canal treatments are more advantageous than they are not. If you are currently suffering from severe tooth pain or tooth aches, do not delay any longer in receiving treatment. Your Cranbrook dentist, Dr. Brett Bevans and the team at Victoria Avenue Dental are here to assist you with root canal treatments, and ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed as you undergo the procedure. Root canal therapy is designed to salvage or preserve a tooth that has become infected or has decayed to the point where losing the tooth is a possibility.

Although the process of treating a root canal may be daunting for most patients, modern dental technology, with the experience that your Cranbrook dentist and the team at Victoria Avenue Dental has to offer, has made root canal treatments a relatively effortless procedure. Root canal therapy often begins with a thorough examination of your teeth, mouth, and gums using tools such as an x-ray to determine the extent of damage caused by decay and infection. Following this examination, your Cranbrook dentist will then numb the affected tooth with an anesthetic to ensure that the procedure is as painless as possible. Your Cranbrook dentist will then drill a hole from the top of the affected tooth, creating an access point to extract decayed and infected tissue. Once all the damaged tissue has been removed and the root canal has been sanitized, your Cranbrook dentist will seal the canal with a rubber like material called gutta percha, and place a permanent crown during your follow up appointment.
